Fairies and Beltane

FAIRIES AND BELTANE

Like at Halloween, the Celts believed that at Beltane, the veil between our world and the otherworld is at its thinnest. At Halloween it was believed that souls of those who had passed would wander the earth. At Beltane, it is fairies you should watch out for. On the night of Beltane the Fairy Queen and her procession of fairy followers would ride out to entice humans to join them in the Otherworld. Anyone who hears the bells of the Fairy Queen’s white horse should look away as she passes them by as once she has caught your eye, you will be drawn away to Faeryland.

So Beltane is a time when Fairies come out to play and can be found in abundance in nature. They should be treated with respect. You might build a fairy house or shelter, a fairy garden and leave offerings for the fairies.
